Freddie Freeman – Out 8 to 10 weeks

posted in: News 0

The player that the Braves could not afford to lose is now down.  MVP candidate and all star first baseman Freddie Freeman is out for the next 8-10 weeks after being hit in the hand.  The fractured wrist is going to keep the slugging first baseman out of the lineup well past the All Star game and possibly into early August.

Utility man Jace Peterson will be the short term solution at first while Freeman is sidelined. The Braves have not ruled out a free agent signing or a potential trade to bolster the current roster.

Freeman was in the midst of a career year leading the majors with a .748 slugging percentage and 14 home runs, and is second with a .461 on-base rate. His 2.5 WAR was tied for third in the majors.
